Homeboy has been doing our job (running a barrel picking club) out in Colorado for like a decade.

When we found out he had bought a distillery and was launching his own brand, Onyx & Amber, our Spidy-Sense (Beaver-Sense?) (Ew?) started tingling.

When we found out that he’d sourced barrels of 12-year MGP bourbon, we pitched a tent (yup!) and camped out on his lawn until he brought out samples.

Remember Smoke Wagon? Those dreamy barrels of 12 year MGP bourbon that we got back in 2018? How many times have people gotten all wistful about the days we could get shit like that? Well, here we go. Stop reading and start clicking cause these will go fast!

Nose: All that good shit - like Twix bar cookies and cocoa and caramel. Very deep combo of sweet and rich aromas going on here. Classic bourbon vying towards the sweet/candy side.

Palate: Nice combo of punchy flavor and oily mouthfeel. These lower-proof cask strength barrels tend to have a lot of concentrated flavor with a wicked smoothness that makes them absolutely dangerous.

Finish: Lots more candy, here’s where the wood starts to wrap everything in warm oak, little pops of rye spice (bbq sauce, peppercorns), a faint fruitiness (citrus/banana).

Just a very lovely barrel here. Hope we can get more in the future, but no guarantees here folks, so don’t miss out!
